According to Sony's description of the HDR-FX1000 it "handles video data in 1920 x 1080p and 4:2:2 color space for high-quality signal processing before recording it to tape in the HDV format2. "

My question is - is it possible to capture the data in 4:2:2 color space directly to a computer without processing it as HDV? The 4:2:2 color space would really help for greenscreening.

That 1920 x 1080 video is only accessable via the HDMI output. Black Magic for one, makes a HDMI input card. I know very little about it, other than it exists. I have a friend who has a Black Magic HDMI breakout box for Final Cut Pro. He told me that when he digitized some of my V1 footage that it looked great but it made really huge files. Much larger than the files made with footage from his EX1.

Hey Robert, on the subject of Green Screen v Blue Screen what is your preference?

I am new to doing this and about to go out and buy a big bit of cloth.

I prefer green as a lot of people wear blue which makes keying difficult. The really important thing is getting the lighting right and making sure the screen is as smooth as possible.
