I need to re-capture some of my footage after losing a drive in a RAID 0 (striping) setup. So I figured this would be a good time to refine my workflow. After doing a bunch of reading last night on the topic of de-interlacing, and thinking about it for a day, I think I've completely confused myself.

My footage was shot on a Canon XH-A1 in the 60i mode. Almost all of my footage is action-based/low light, for example ice hockey. Editing will be done using CineForm Prospect HD intermediary files in Premier Pro CS3 (not using CS4 due to compatibility problems with CineForm, but will upgrade when possible). The completed videos will be distributed either via the web (Vimeo, iTunes), standard DVD, or Blue-Ray DVD.

I prefer to use the CineForm HDV Capture from within Premier Pro, as it allows to me preserve timecode values and use scene detection. In the CineForm capture format settings I am converting the source footage from 1440x1080 (1.33) to 1920x1080 (1.0), which I think is correct.

What about de-interlacing? When should I:
A) De-interlace during the capture phase
B) De-interlace during export, if so which formats would require this (web, standard DVD, Blue-Ray)?
C) Never de-interlace
D) Change my workflow to use 30f to avoid the de-interlacing issue. (Since I'm shooting fast moving objects in low light settings, I don't think this is the right answer, but I've been known to be wrong.)

As BluRay doesn't support 30p, only 24p and 60i, leave the data as 60i and only deinterlace for the output formats that require it (Web.)

I didn't realize that BluRay did not support 30p. Thanks for the heads up.
