Hello again,

I have a quick question.How do I export for the web? do I export as quicktime movie and then import in compressor? I have no idea.This is the first time I'll be posting on the web.Please help.

well I can't imagine that it's this hard to figure out how to export for the web.My site requires that the file be no larger then 10mb.The quicktime movie that I exported is 1.4gb.Any help you guys can offer me would be greatly appreciated.I think I'm just burnt out from editing alllllllll day.Please help!

If you do a search on this forum you'll find dozens of answers that tackle this problem. There's no single perfect way, you have about 3 or 4 options for creating your web-export. My suggestion however would be to export as Flash 8 or 9; you can get a much higher-quality web-encode for a very small data footprint. QT is great but depending on the length of your clip and how large you're trying to make the viewable area you might blow the 10MB limit.

There's probably no "right" generic way, it depends on the needs of the player you are exporting to. YouTube has their recommended settings, VMIX has an entirely different set of recommendations. Probably the provider has a best practices on their site?
For example, our standard op is to upload 16:9 videos by first outputting a full-res quicktime movie from the FCP timeline for archiving, then compressing that in Sorenson Squeeze to a 480x272 quicktime file which is what our VMIX player seems to like (although it can accept wmv and others as well). Most players transcode whatever you send to their specs anyway, so it's a matter of finding what works best on their site... //Battle Vaughan/miamiherald.com video team

OK........I used compressor and it got it down to the size I needed but it put it in 4:3 aspect ratio.......eeeeerg.this is the most frustrating thing I've ever had to deal with.I tried dv kitchen and I keep getting an error message.What know?
