ARe there any trick that help keep a overlay text on one spot on top of shaky footage?

I am editing a educational DVD with some very shaky footage and need to overlay text to match a certain spot on the footage. I asked them to reshoot but no go and I slowed it down a bit but UGH it looks bad. So any help would be great.
