I typically shoot corporate talking head video or industrial training video. I've just met a man who just started working for one of my corporate clients. He is a renowned trapper and fisherman and has authored a few books on the subjects. We're talking about a few videos we could collaborate on. I really think this could be a profitable venture.

I typically shoot with a JVC HD100 and am considering picking up a Canon HV30 as a b-cam. Are there any resources (books, videos, etc.) that can get me up to speed on the ins and outs of shooting outdoor video? Any other equipment you would see as a "must have"?

As far as the business aspect, what's customary? He's bringing the expertise and credentials. I would imagine as the producer, I'd be putting up the cash for shooting and replication. In that case, do you typically split 50/50 with the talent? Just pay them a flat fee outright?
