I've heard good things about this site from other DV.com refugees. DV.com was an extremely effective source for info on a myriad of DV-related topics until it was "reorganized". My screen name doesn't even work there anymore. Why fix it if it ain't broke? Anyway, I look forward to the same level of intelligent discourse on this site.

I spent 10 years making films "guerilla-style" in LA. I've relocated to the east coast and I hope to be able to continue making no money from my films here (kidding). I am gradually getting past my film snobbery and realizing that DV is the future of film. We just purchased our XL1s and we're in pre-production for our first "guerilla-style" mini-feature in May. I'm looking forward to being able to afford to actually complete a project for a change! We're in the market for G4 Powerbook and FCP3 now.

You can visit my site at www.micheauxfoundation.com.

Interesting website, Cliff... "Oscar Micheaux (1884-1951), First African American to produce a feature film (1919), produce a talking feature film (1931), produce a film that opened in white theaters (1948)..." -- amazing!

For what it's worth, I couldn't get back into the DV.com forums either and I see no way of retrieving my username/password info. Oh, well... glad you found us and you're always more than welcome here.

Cliff,

Welcome aboard! There are lots of other people here who
come from a "traditional" background, so you are not on your
own. I hope you find what you are looking for on these boards
and I'll see you around!
