I'm selling my whole A1 kit and was wondering if I could use the A1's canon wide angle on the HMC150 seeing as how they are the same thread size. Any insight on this would be appreciated. I realize the HMC150 is already wide as it is, but I'd use the WD-h72 in very tight situations.

Thanks

Hi Randy,

I do not know for sure if the WD-H72 will fit on the HMC150, but I would say include that lens in the A1 kit or try selling it seperately. The WD-H72 is a beast and you will not need it with the HMC150. As you already know, the HMC150 has a much wider lens than the XH-A1.

If you did find a need for a wider look I would go with a Century Optics .6. It is wider and lighter weight than the Canon WD-H72. Then if you really needed something even wider, Century makes a sweet .4 fisheye.

At the end of the month I will have a piece playing on EventDV-TV that will showcase comparision footage of the Century Optics lenses.

I agree with Mark on this....
I have the Canon wide angle for my A1, and tried it in my 150 just now to see what would happen. Yes, it will fit just fine, no problem there.

But I did notice a lot of barrell distortion at full wide that I do not see when using it on my A1, at least not to anywheres close to this degree. Plus its weight does detract from one of the HMC's biggest seling points (to me anyways) which is its light weight.
