View Full Version : Previewing edited video on normal TV screen...

I'm using Premiere Pro and I'm trying to view my edited video on the TV screen. I have it set up like this: computer to camera through firewire and camera to TV screen through AV cables. This worked fine in Premiere 6.5, but now I'm having a little trouble. It seems that if I try to play the video in Premiere Pro it doesn't show up on the TV screen, nor the camera's LCD. I have the camera on Play (VCR) mode with it on lock.

Has anyone ever tried this before?

Have you looked through the settings in PPro? I had to specifically
enable it on Vegas for example.

There's a setting in Premiere 6.0 that you have to check in order to enable this. Something like "Use camcorder as a VCR" or for playback, or previews something like that. I believe it was in the Project menu but my Premiere is giving me some error and won't load. Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Huey

In 6.5 go to "Project" then to "Project Settings" then to "Playback Settings" and check "Playback on DV Camcorder/VCR". I would imagine that it is somewhat similar in Pro, but haven't used it yet. Hope that helps...

AS I stated, I've done this in Premiere 6.5 with ease already. I've gone through everything and couldn't find a setting for it. Maybe Premiere Pro isn't meant for weird previewing.

I would click on Playback Settings, but it is greyed-out for some reason.

I don't think you can preview on a TV screen while dealing with 30 FPS. It only lets you do it in 29.97.

Most people say 30fps when they mean 29.97fps because that's too long to say/type. If you have DV footage (29.97fps) then you should be able to preview that footage on a TV.
