I have just received my GS100 from PriceJapan and am very pleased with it.

I do however want to buy an external microphone. The accessory brochure which came with the camera lists the VW-VMH3 as hot-shoe microphone for the GS100. PriceJapan can supply it for USD160.

Can anybody give me some comments about this microphone. The alternative I am considering is the Azden SGM-X.

Would the Azden SGM-X work?

From what I've read, the Pana mic improves audio somewhat.

You may want to check previous threads. One of the 100k owners who had ordered the Panasonic mike had problems with it - it didn't work.
