I want an effect or filter that swaps the red and blue pixel data for the clip. How can I do this?

I'm not sure about "swapping" colors but I DO know that with the secondary color corrector you can select a color (range) and then change them to a different color. I'm sure it would take several tracks to actually swap colors.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about on a still image.

The default is r-r, g-g, and b-b, but if you switch it to r-b, g-g, b-r, that's what I want. I'll give the secondary color corrector a shot, I was trying the primary one and some other effects and couldn't do it intuitively.

Is there any API to write a plug in for Vegas so I can make my own effect? Or, can I get pixel data in and out of the raw AVIs with some API in a regular C++ or Java program?

Interesting effect. I'd never looked at that one before.

I think that's it! It really turned my orange night time scene into a cool blue night time scene. Check it out:

Interesting, but in my opinion that is way way too much blue,
especially in the latter image. I'd run an extra color corrector to
return it into a less blue color. But then again you could have
also run a color corrector in the first place to shift it from orange
to blue.

The directors want blue.

Who am I to argue?

That's true... all I'm saying is that there are different levels of
blue.

mmmmm - levels.

I wonder if it is wrong for someone who is partially color blind to be doing color correction in Vegas?

too blue to you ? not enough blue to me ??
everybody's taste is different .. in the end it comes down to any combination ( or just one) persons(s) deciding - director, Dp, colorist, editor ,producer that will make the final judgement call.

as a DP you sometimes have a directors that wants X and i think it's too much BUT in the end i work/create to the directors vision so if director wants BLUE but i think red is better i tell director about RED and i give them BLUE ...
