Hey everyone,
I am looking for a workshop or class in the LA area ASAP on the basics of XL-1 operation. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be using the camera at a press conference and although I'm familiar with some of the absolute basics of the camera, I really would prefer to know a bit more!
Thank you!
PS: I'd also be happy to learn with someone independently who has working knowlege of the XL-1.

Hey Brenann75,

There are a few classes given by LTU. I've only had my camera for a few months but I've done alot of research and testing before and after. I've purchase about every option you can get for the camera and have played with them over and over. I'm in the LA area, so if you have some specific questions or want to email me you can.

Canon USA presents an XL1S class at Birns & Sawyer; DV Creators has an XL1S class also (they are not Canon personnel but they are authorized by Canon).

Birns & Sawyer: tel. (323) 466-8211 www.birnsandsawyer.com
DV Creators: tel. (800) 965-3976 www.dvcreators.net

Hope this helps,

Thank you so much for the info, I'll check out the web-sites now.

Thanks again guys,
I signed up for a class at Burns & Sawyer in May.
Should be just what I was looking for, and so cheap ;) which is always a good thing!
Great site!
Cheers!

I'm also attending the half-day Birns & Sawyer class on May 4th (I bought my XL1s from them). There should be some interesting demos of 3rd party accessories, such as for using 35mm film lenses with the Canon. You might also want to sign up for the afternoon class, "Lighting for Emerging Filmmakers." Each class is only $20.
