Does anyone uses the Sennheiser K6-RD or had their K6 converted to one? I'm planning to have my K6 converted 'cause I seem to get distortion when ever there are loud music or noises. I have a Panasonic DVX100.

Ray,

Explained extensively in this post: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15936&highlight=red+dot

Rob,

Yes, I have read that thread. Does how I got the idea of having my K6 converted. From that thread. It seems that only one person had their K6 converted.

What I want to know is? If anyone else is using it and how they like it after the fact.

Thanks,
RS

Ray,

Should have mine back later this week. I'll let you know. Now I'm wishing I had done some pre-testing with it so I could give some quantative results for the after mod.

Ray,

I had the ME66's K6 unit altered and it works much better for our purposes. The stock K6 distorted any loud sounds but with the Red Dot alteration, we're now getting very nice audio at wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Bob,

Sound great! I sent mine in last week. Hope it doesn't take long to get it back.

Just got mine back from Sennheiser. And it sure made a big difference. And I didn't have to pay anything.

Got my K6 back from Sennheiser. And I must tell you that I like it better than before. Works really great now for me.

I've been wondering about this mod. Couldn't you get the same effect with an inline attenuator? This seems like an awfully drastic solution.

Marco, I was wondering the same thing. One of the best aspects of the ME66 is it's high sensitivity, when needed.
With this mod, you can never get that back.

It would be nice if they put a little switch to select, one side with the original and the other side for the modified version. That is very easy to implement.

I'm still getting great sensitivity with the mic when needed. I'm just not getting the overload anymore when there is any loud sound. Like Bob. For what I do, it works great. It might not be for everyone.

It be nice if they make a switch. However, I don't think it's going to happen soon. Since Sennheiser sells the K6RD, already modified. Overall I like it better than before. Plus I have an extra K6 I bought off of Ebay in case one fails.
