I will be moving to New Zealand in December. Anyone know where the best place to look for a new XM2 would be there?

Also anyone in NZ looking for a GL2? hehehe....

Hi Joe. What city are you looking to buy in? I'm in Auckland so can only speak about shops here but there are several places to get an XM2 here, but the best is from Auckland Camera Centre. I got mine from DVT who did me an equivalent deal after some haggling, and I went with them cause I was going to get more DV gear from them and wanted a single supplier to work with. I decided not to get more gear from them cause their service sucks and so I go to Auckland Camera if I need filters etc, and also go to Panavision for other things like Wireless mics, tripods, DV tape etc. (Panavision is the cheapest place that I've found for Sony Tape - you'll have a heart attack when you see the price of tape here ;) )

There is also a smaller outfit in Auckland that has reasonable prices called Reigers appliances

Getting gear here can be either, hard, or very expensive and I order from overseas too from time to time.

Sounds good. I'll give you a shout when I get there. I'm travelling in Europe right now, and just threw in a dvd i created thats NTSC in a PAL player. Noticed it played fine. IF thats the case, I might get away with the GL2 for awhile.

Yeah, the rest of the world always builds in NTSC playback into their devices :)

REMEMBER - get a voltage changing power supply or you'll fry something..

I think you might have issues if you dub to tape using your GL2 as a deck. It will output NTSC and I'm sure it will expect NTSC DV in (Although that will probbaly be the case). Most TV's and videos will NOT take an NTSC signal into them through RCA or anything, they can only playback NTSC from tape.

You could always get a Canopus ADVC (?) of some sort that will convert properly. Might save you having to get another camera.
