It doesn't record or upscale to 1080i, but it reduces wear on the GR-HD1/JY-DH10U heads.

Great work, Troy! I was wondering when one of these was gonna come out. Too bad it can't go to 1080i in recording BUT that's what DVHS is for. I think...

Damn good news Troy. I've been waiting for that.

Anyone know what the price is in US dollars? It says "$200,00"?

Also, what practical applications will this have? I'll be able to shoot with my HD10U and finally be able to plug the HD Player into anything I want? I've got an HDTV and every other piece of NTSC gear, so I should be able to do a lot.

Does it convert the footage for us?? Yeah, right!

That's 200,000 yen, which translates into 1,837.73 American Dollars (at the current exchange rate.)

If that's the suggested price, look for the actual cost to be a bit lower, maybe down to $1200. That's what I paid for my former (non-LCD) mini-dv VTR from Sony.
