A funny thing happened to me on the way to my G4 this morning.

As of today, QuickTime with the MPEG2 addition doesn't work anymore.

I bought the MPEG2 addition a month or so ago and for some reason, without performing any update, it stopped working.

Now the interesting thing is that when I put my system date to yesterday, it works again.

And apparently, I'm not the only person this is happening to.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Frederic

This has effected everyone. Apple, as of this post, has not yet released a patch or update. A simple fix for those doing mission critical work is to set the date back several days. Once your done with FCP or DVD SP just set the date back to the correct date.

Could it be Apple's own version of Y2K?

Heck, I can't open QuickTime 6.4 at all, nevermind mpeg-2!

I did a check and Panther 10.3.2 is out now. Maybe a problem in Panther, not just QuickTime?

Although, apple hasn't updated the issue yet, you can go into your Apple account and re-download the MPEG2 install. Install it and it starts working again.

A new version of QT is out as well.
