You can see that the VX2000 (or may be PD-150) has a powerful 32-bit Hitachi SH2 risc processor running at 20+ MHz! Amazing. This is the same processor used in Sega Saturn video game console. Anyone ever use/see one? Looks like a lower end sholder cam. EDIT: It looks as though the VX1 had a marked focus ring. I wonder why they stopped using that design. Sometimes I think it's incredible that they are as reliable as they are (given the number of components that must work together) and affordable as they are. Do you know this is what BBC does if you want to shoot a project for them with aDV camera? They bypass the dreaful Sony preamp and get to make things more linear in the audio stages. That would also be interesting on cameras that do not allow manual audio adjust, in order to bypass the AGC. There's an article on how to modify the TRV900 audio stage. Carlos |
