Hi everyone I've posted a few times before, for months this problem has been annoying me. I have not been able to burn my movie at the best quailty possible. The movie when it pans turns into clouds of pixels. Is this a bitrate problem, if so what do you suggest I change it to? If not do you have any idea what the problem may be. Any info appreciated. I'm using Adobe Premier 6.5 in Australia so using PAL, encoding into MPEG2. Burning through Roxio DVD Builder

Hi Zac, I'm using MPEG2, Frame Size 720x576, Frame Rate 25.000, 4.3, Bitrate Variable avg 6 max 8 PAL.

I hope this helps, I'm not sure whether Roxio is compressing the file, I looked but really it did not say. What do you use to burn finalised movies?

I usually use vegas video to encode the mpeg2 file and dvd architect to do the burning.

It will be easy to know if roxio is re-compressing- if it starts burning within around a minute then it is not, if it takes longer before it starts burning, it is re-compressing.


There are other pieces of software to compress down to an mpeg-2 file, i am not sure if premiere really is any good at it, apparently there is a way to frame serve from premiere into tmpeg (which is a specialised FREE piece of software just from mpeg compression)

How long is the piece you are trying to compress?

Both are around 2.5 gb each uncompressed, yes Roxio takes awhile to encode before burning.

As a new user, I have just come across the situation you decribed.

I am using a slightly different set up, VideoWave 4 to produce the MPEG2, then Sonic MyDVD to burn to disc.

I tested my theory by just using MyDVD with an AVI file, and bingo, perfect reproduction.

I think you'll find that the second program, Roxio, is recompressing the MPEG2, and therefore distorting the picture.

I think you have two choices:

1/. Render in Adobe Premier as and AVI file, then use Roxio to send the info to the DVD, or

2/. Get new software that renders and burns in one.

Third option is to just get a different authoring package and still
have Premiere do the rendering to MPEG2. Are you sure you are
telling Premiere to make DVD compliant files (use a DVD template
for MPEG2)? It might be that the Roxio product can be told in
the preferences to NOT re-encode?

How long is this movie? Because if you know that you can check
what final bitrate is being used since it ends up being 2.5 GB
in size.
