Hey Everyone,

I have recently purchased the DVX100 and I am not sure what some of these settings are and how they effect the picture.

What is Chroma Level, Chroma Phase, and Master Pedestal? How does this effect the picture? What setting do you guys find best?

Thank you very much for you help.

Matt

Matt:

Congrats on your DVX - if you search here, you will find lots of discussions on these items.

To learn the camera settings, hook the camera up to a very high quality monitor (and to a computer via firewire that has software with waveform or vectorscope). If you don't know what a waveform or vectorscope is, you need to speed some time reading up on video signals (try www.greatdv.com and www.adamwilt.com).

Once hooked up, adjust each of the settings, one at a time, through it's full range until you see the effects of the control.

Chroma level adjusts chroma saturation

Chroma phase adjusts the hue

Master Ped adjusts master pedestal (black IRE level and white IRE level), increasing or decreasing recorded signal level.
