There always seems to be questions on interlaced vs. progressive vs. frame mode video capture. What are the resolutions in each, compromises, etc.
Here (ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/PBTS/papers/Progressive-WP.pdf) is a terrific white paper (.pdf) from the Panasonic website on these modes. I sure learned something and I hope you will too.

Since it takes me forever to open a PDF file on my computer with 40 megs of RAM, how about giving me the bottom line? Thanks.

Its the same article by Steve Mullen that was passed around a while back. Still a good read for those who haven't seen it.

Progressive is better than Frame. But you knew that anyway.

Yes, I know the difference, and that progressive is a bit better than frame mode. Did you know that Frame mode was invented by Pana? Well, maybe not but they were the first company to put out a cam with frame mode. Also, not all frame mode is the same in the way of quality. :-((
My 2 DVL9500 cams have progressive scan 1/3" CCDs, with BIG 380K total pixels, BIG 360K video effective. :-))
