I'm looking for some specific Cokin screw-on filters. These are readily available in Europe, but I'll be d_mned if I can find them in the US. Does anyone know a good European site which specializes in a good Cokin filter selection? Thanks

You got somethin' against Tiffen, Frank?

Here's the Cokin distributors for US and UK: http://www.cokin.fr/ico9-p11.html -- back button on this page cycles back alphabetically by country. Hope this helps,

Tiffen doesn't make a Sunsoft filter. I got mine at www.kurtscameracorral.com....it was a special order.

Thanks. I do know about the Cokin.fr site. I have nothing against the Tiffen line.... I think Tiffen's Black Pro Mist 3 is just dandy. However, I need a few Cokins for a certain "look." A 43mm screw-on Sunsoft is one of them. At Leo's Photo (Vancouver), they only have the A and P size which require "the box;" and Minolta is the Canadian distributor and do not bring in much of the screw-on Cokins.

And with Tiffens, the thread size starts at 49mm, so I'd have to get a step-up ring. The Black Pro Mist 3 is also back-ordered 11 months up here. (Tiffen can't keep up with the demand.)

Howdy from Southeast Asia,

I think it will be better if you will just edit/color correct it using an nle software(premiere, after effects or ulead mediastudio pro).

Filters sometimes creates videonoise.

Hope it helps.

I don't edit via NLE. I try to shoot not to edit, or shoot to edit via in camera or VCR. (Okay, sometimes I use my buddy's editing setup.)

Thanks! That is a good link. But I already have this link posted on my links page, and I've yet to hear back from Adorama (it's been almost 5 days now since I e-mailed them). I'm afraid I'll just have to order these from somewhere in Europe next week.

PS: I'm going to get Cokin screw-on filters, not the A or P size which require an adaptor. Many people are not aware that Cokin makes many of their filters with threads, and in many sizes - unlike Tiffen which start at 49mm.

Hi Frank,

Cokin is a French company, here's their web site http://www.cokin.fr/ . There is some good info their. If you describe your dilema they may ship you direct or purpose and alternate source for your filters.

Merci. Yes, thanks. I know their website. Maybe I'll e-mail them to ask them where I can get them. That was my next plan of action. On another note, I wanted to buy a polarizer today for one of my cams, and no one open (long week-end) had one in 37mm. Oh, well. I'll have to hit downtown on Tuesday (15 minute bus trip).

Frank, you haven't heard back from Adorama yet? I need to get on the phone Monday morning and tell Barry Zilberschlag to get cracking on his e-mail.

No, I haven't heard back. I e-mailed 3 times. That was a week ago. Go figure. I didn't know you knew the owner.

Yeah, I see Barry at every trade show. Will call him tomorrow morning.

Okay. He just got back to me. He doesn't carry the screw-on Cokin line at all. Here in Vancouver, only some are brought in, but not the ones I want. I'm going to try cameraaction.com.au in Australia, to see if they carry them. If not there, I'll have to brush up on my French---no worries, it's my second language (English is my 3rd).

Update: the screw-on line is not imported into Australia. Too bad, Aussies!

Still waiting to hear back from cokin.fr

They don't even sell their full line in the UK. Strange, I say.

I think it will be better for you to bid cokin filters on ebay.com

Most ebay.com sellers reply to e-mails promptly.

The ones I want are not brought into North America, the UK, nor Australia. I will have to take a boo on e-bay though. Thanks.

Well, I'm getting them from France. Seems like this new Cokin line is not yet fully brought in to other countries. But soon they will be marketed everywhere. Can't wait! Great filters at great prices!
