Troy,

This is an official announcement from JVC, that's why it's so important.

Would it be possible to record images from the new Sony HD POV camera ($15k) with the new JVC CU-VH1 deck ($2000)?

thanks

Josef,

You're asking questions about equipment that isn't out yet, and one of which I still can't verify (the camera). You'll have to wait until both are out before we'll know for sure.

FYI, I'm hearing that the JVC HDV VTR will be available at the END OF THE MONTH for $1999!!!! WOW! (A bit steep in price, but can save your heads on the HD10/HD1 when playing back tapes via your NLE, etc.)

Great!!!!

Mobile/portable HD solution for about an hour feature video film look like this for Apple user:

1. JVC HDV Camcorder (PAL or NTSC)
2. PowerBook G4 1.25+ GB (in the future 2+ GB G5)+1 or 2GB RAM+SuperDrive
3. Final Cut Pro 4+
4. Heuris Indie HD Toolkit
5. JVC HDV mini VTR
6. 800 Firewire Platinum RAID 1.5 TB available from MicroNet
7. Mini DV tapes

No additional/standard HD hardware or cards, BOBs, etc...

Digital video future belongs to (portable) HD solution like one described above...

Try out, it works!!!

Sanjin,

To make a hyperlink, do this:

the website address

Make sure the last "]" isn't spaced like I did. I did that to keep from making a false hyperlink! It's that powerful! Also, make sure there are no spaces between the ], the website address and the next [

Thanks Sanjin! Also, the past two or three computers (one I had to return due to problems which were not Smalldog's fault) I've bought through Smalldog. And now that I have a "small dog" I can send in a photo. Okay, that's WAY off topic.

LaCie has new large(500GB & 1TB) portable RAID drive systems. See:

http://www.lacie.com/products/family.htm?id=10007

LaCie's prices are not much more than $1/GB.

Their was a nice HD demo at the FCP UG meeting during MWSF. A presenter from the Chicago FCP UG was displaying uncompressed HD off two RAIDed LaCie Big Disks through a Mac portable.

Very nice.
