View Full Version : Where do I find one? -- the rentals thread
Dennis Hingsberg January 12th, 2006, 07:30 PM I thought they had a list of rental places across North America on their site? Either way if you contact them they may know of someone in your area who rents it, seeing as they are the authorized reseller of the mini35 for all USA and Canada.
Jeff Ray January 12th, 2006, 10:10 PM Thanks Dennis. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if they can do anything for. Appreciate the help!
Eric MacIver January 19th, 2006, 01:18 PM I know it's a bit late to respond, but FYI, we do ship our Mini's across the country (just sent out two yesterday). When we do that, we give you one free travel day, at least, and try to make it conducive to long-distant renting.
We also ship cameras, lenses, matte boxes, follow focus systems, etc.
Our new website and pricing will be posted tomorrow at www.indierentals.com
Thanks!
Paul Jefferies January 19th, 2006, 02:30 PM Hi,
Does anyone know of rental houses for the Mini 35 in the London/Southern England area? Looking to get weekend rental of JVC HD101 + Mini 35 + Lenses (specifics to be confirmed) for late Feb/early March...
Rabi Syid January 19th, 2006, 06:10 PM Optex which i'm not sure if they are still operating, ( i rang a few times at the start of the year and got no luck) are the biggest stockest of the M35 unit. They'd charge 80p a day which i think is standard in the country. Good luck.
Tony Davies-Patrick January 20th, 2006, 04:01 AM Sadly, OPTEX are no longer operating and went into liquidation.
Martin Costa January 20th, 2006, 05:34 PM Paul, I'm sure Arri in Uxbridge has one and they'll have lenses as well. Give Phil Cooper a call on 01895 45 71 00.
Rashpal S. Sagoo January 27th, 2006, 05:28 AM I'm shooting with JVC's HDV100,
1 need to find a supplier that will hire the P+S Techniks adaptor in the UK
2 in the mean time, I have a had a adaptor engineered to mount (the mount is mechanical, it has no glass) Nikon SLR lens to the 100, but the size of the shot is etreemly telephoto, even on a super wide lens.
3 can some one shed any light on shooting with SLR lens on video camera, as it was a an exciting moment which came crashing down :-(
4 With the P+S Techiks I assume the resulting shot would be exactly what is expected from a film camera.
Thanks in advance
Rash
Rob Lohman January 27th, 2006, 02:13 PM On the P+S Technik support page there are links to rental locations all over
the world (including the UK) for the mini35 & pro35:

Ryan Leedy March 21st, 2006, 07:00 PM I was curious if anyone knew of a place near Dallas or Lubbock that rents out the P+S Mini 35 adapters. Also if anyone knew where maybe I could purchase one or if it is cheaper to purchase right off Techniks Website, although I'm not sure how to do it there either as I wasn't able to find items for sell on their site. Any help would be great.
Guy Genin March 22nd, 2006, 06:21 AM Hello Ryan,
Check this page on ZGC web site : http://www.zgc.com/zgc.nsf/902a2548f82c5d6505256b4f00545f81/f424e9ff3ae158c785256b7e0070e4c5?OpenDocument
It lists all current places that have the unit for rent. You will see that there are two in Dallas.
This page gives all the informations on the current model:

Pat Miller March 29th, 2006, 04:39 PM Try MPS Studios in Dallas. I know they have the P & S for the Varicam & the Sony 900 as I've used it for them before.
Andrew Wahlquist April 5th, 2006, 11:59 AM Hi Everyone,
Long time lurker, but just signed up. (I've learned a ton here) I'm a director putting together a 5 minute teaser/test for my independent feature.
We're shooting a few scenes April 29&30 to compare Super16 with the JVC HD100U with a mini35. I'm footing the bill myself, so I'm trying to get this done really cheaply. That means, I'd like to find someone with an interest working with me for low-no money to allow me usage of their mini35 for the weekend. I have the JVC already, and am renting an Arri SR2 at a steep discount.
The teaser stars Michael Hitchcock (Best in Show, Mighty Wind, Pretty Persuasion) as a man who has to save his home and family from destruction by his evil homeowners association.
If anyone knows someone/someplace or has access to a mini35 (and perhaps a JVC connecting kid), I'd love to talk to you about the project and see if there's something we can work out.
I'm also willing to try out one of the alternatives (like the M2).
Thanks
Andrew Wahlquist (dir/prod)

Charles Papert April 5th, 2006, 05:02 PM Try Eric Maciver at indierentals.com.
Eric MacIver April 7th, 2006, 12:00 AM Thanks Charles... Yeah - drop me an email or a phone call - just not on Fridays or Mondays ;)
Eric MacIver April 7th, 2006, 12:01 AM FYI, we ship them anywhere in the US, including one free shipping day.
Andrew McCarrick April 22nd, 2006, 08:06 PM I'm looking to rent a Mini35 for the part of my feature that I'm shooting with the HVX, anyone know of a rental house that has them in the Mid-Atlantic Area. (I live 10 minutes from Atlantic City.)
Thanks, Andrew
Andrew McCarrick April 23rd, 2006, 01:54 AM I found one at DC CAMERA (http://dc-camera.com), how reliable is this rental house?
Jonas Nystrom May 2nd, 2006, 05:24 AM Does anyone have any suggestion or input?
Guy Genin May 2nd, 2006, 09:15 AM Hello Jonas,
There is a list of the dealers on page 51 of the instruction manual for the Mini35.
You can find the manual on the following page: http://www.pstechnik.de/en/downloads/MINI35%20Manual_050216.pdf
I hope this helps.
Travis Surovcik May 10th, 2006, 01:47 PM You can check out our website at www.zgc.com for a list of rental houses in your area that carry the Mini35. You'll want to click on the P+S Technik link and then follow through to the Mini35 section of the site. From there you will see a link for "Rental Houses". That should help you out.
In regards to your last question, DC Camera is a great place to rent your equipment from. Definately give them a call.
Alex Christenson May 31st, 2006, 07:45 PM Hello,
I'm looking to rent a Mini35 adapter (for DVX100), a Superspeed set of primes (t1.3), and possibly a follow focus. This is for music video shoot, a student shoot.
I'm not looking to spend more than $400...$500. It's for one weekend. Anyone know a good house I can go to?
Alex

Eric MacIver June 1st, 2006, 10:48 PM Thanks Nick!
Jemore Santos September 19th, 2006, 08:05 PM Are there any rental houses in Sydney?

I believe they are fairly format agnostic too.
Cheers,

Rati Oneli December 13th, 2006, 11:54 AM Does anyone know if I can rent Mni35, or Brevis or M2 near New York? shipping sounds like an option but not from the West Coast. I'd be loosing lots of time like that. Thank you

Rati, sometimes all we need to do is look up for all the answers we need.
LOL
See Eric's post in this thread.........

Charles Papert December 14th, 2006, 12:16 PM Dennis, you would need to use the PRO35, not the Mini35 for your SDX-900...?
Dennis Hingsberg December 14th, 2006, 04:22 PM Hi Charles,
I have the XL2/mini35 and a while ago was considering the JVC HD100/mini35 when I wanted to get into HD.
I'm still not sure which direction to go in terms of HD with mini35. The RED camera solves a lot of issues in my opinion, but likely has a few of it's own up it's sleeve too.
Jonas Nystrom December 17th, 2006, 06:11 AM Looking for a used Mini35 400 series! Before the end of the year!
Alessio Martinelli December 20th, 2006, 11:56 AM http://www.visualproducts.com/store04.asp?ID=26&Cat=8&Cat2=18
this is in the USA
Dennis Hingsberg December 20th, 2006, 12:02 PM That looks older than a 300 series.
I have a 300 series for sale, but HD needs series 400. See my post in this forum if interested.
Cheers.
Sean J. Manning January 1st, 2007, 02:31 AM Hello, I want to see video shot with the mini35, and then compared to video shot without it.
I want to see video shot with 35mm adapter cheaper alternatives vs the mini35.
Thanks
Charles Papert January 1st, 2007, 05:40 AM Hi Sean:
You can see some with and without shots and footage via this article (http://www.hdvinfo.net/articles/jvcprohd/hd100mini35test1.php).
I don't have any experience shooting with the Mini35 alternative products, so I can't help with that one.
Dennis Hingsberg January 8th, 2007, 01:28 PM Can I be so bold as to ask why you want to see video shot with and without the mini35? What are you hoping to see?
As for comparisons, check the "alternative imaging" section of this forum for shoot-outs and other comparisons that may be useful to you.
In my opinion however you'll find comparisons to be very subjective. I see 35mm adapters as a tool no different than how one artist may use a particular paint brush over another painter. All brushes can paint pictures, not all painters can paint a picture.
Craig Chartier September 5th, 2007, 09:14 PM just received our new 400 series, and with the super speeds it really looks great!! ready to rent anytime. mounts for both PL or Nikons and adapters for XLH1 or HVx200. give us a call 5124853131.
Joe Gill May 15th, 2008, 02:17 PM Hey guys -
I won't be using my unit, so I'd like to see if anybody wants to rent it. It's a P+S Technik model 300 adapter with a bunch of lenses. Currently set up for Canon XL2 (low hours but I had a full service form Canon just in case anyway), but can be used with DVX/HVX/JVC with rental of additional adapter (I suggest Eric / Indie Rents). I have posted some demo movies and a rate page here - http://valueaddedmedia.com/Video/PS_Technik/PS_Technik.html. Please email with questions. It comes in a Pelican 1650 case, so it flies well and can be shipped.
Discounts form DVInfo users, just mention it in your email.
Jonathan Shaw June 30th, 2008, 07:37 PM If anyone is looking for a Canon XH A1 in a GATES housing with HID lighting I have one availible.
We also have a Sony HC1 in an Ikelite housing with Twin 50 Watt Halogen's
