Hi,

I have just purchased a PD150 and when in record mode on the LCD screen or through the view finder it has NS just to the right of the audio mode indicator. It looks like the following:

NS 32K

I can' find any reference to NS in the manual

It may be a dumb question but any help would be much appreciated

It is not a dumb question. NS means that you are recording in DV mode, not DVCam mode and the sound is not locked to the video. Truth is, it is and modern NLEs have no problems with it.

Unless you have some reason to record in 32 K mode, you might want to switch up to 48K sampling mode.

Thing is, Sony equipment always comes factory set to 32kHz and in this day and age I've no idea why. How many camera menus have I reset to get the best audio possible? Tens. And last week I bought a DVCAM DSR-11 and it too came set to 32kHz audio. I couldn't believe it.
