Hi there everyone. This seems to be the one area that I've always had difficulties in. I seem to have problems outputting back on my TV while watching the sequence in FCP 4.

I have a Sony DSR-11, a g5, and using FCP 4. The weird thing is, is that it was working perfectly fine yesterday, and now it doesn't want to work at all.

My setting in th e A/V Devices is:
Video: Apple FireWire NTSC (720 x 480(
I have the "mirror on desktop" option clicked.
Audio: FireWire DV

Those were the same settings I had from last night, I did not change anything. I was wondering if anything could help me out.

Thanks again.

Hi Joshua,

Just a hunch

Set the zoom factor for your Timeline Viewer (Canvas) window to 50% and see if that helps.

Hi there Daniel, thanks for the tip, but no good. It was an interesting thought though, I never thought about that before.

Thanks though.

If it worked one day and not the next, it starts to sound like corrupt preferences. Do a search here for the instructions on trashing your preferences files (there are 3 files that need to be trashed).

It worked! Thank you very much. I had thought about the preferences, but figured before I acted, to ask around.

Thanks everyone again!

I have the same problem, although I have not gotten this work at all yet.

DSR-11, a dual G4, same settings as described above.

FW connection between computer and deck. Deck to external monitor works when logging and capture, but nothing on playback from computer.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hey, I did the prefs trashing fix and it worked!

After all these years on the Mac, why did I immediately assume that this surely couldn't apply to me?

Thanks so much to Jeff and all others.

Now I wish I had a bigger monitor...
