I have spend the last couple of weeks getting familarized with my XL1S and there is one (or at least one) thing I can't get to work: The clear scan feature.
I have read the threads about it but I still can't set it. Can anyone please explain how do I set the Clear Scan (preferably in a point to point way)? Thanks I really appreciate it!

Step 1. Put the camera in Tv or M mode.
Step 2. Press the Shutter ^ up button past 15000 (Til you see Tv CS)
Step 3. Press Menu Button
Step 4. Select Cam. Set up
Step 5. Select Clear Scan, select the frequency to hide the bars.
Step 6. Record.

"Clear Scan" is a new feature of the XL1s that enables you to shoot television screens or computer monitors without any trace of flicker or band roll. In essence, it provides a fine-tuning addjustment of the shutter speed.

I was curious. . .CS has four settings, in terms of kilohertz (or something similar). Is there a rule to it. . .as far as which setting to use for computer screens, TV screens, etc?

Hi Josh,
There is no rule other than to observe the screen through the viewfinder and adjust the settings to minimize or eliminate the flicker or vertical band.

Well whatever it's set on now seems to minimize it. As I adjust the shutter speed (independent of the clearscan feature)the band shrinks or grows.
