View Full Version : FilmLook Jamison Olivieri February 22nd, 2004, 12:50 PM What is FilmLook RC3? What does it do for vegas Edward Troxel February 22nd, 2004, 01:43 PM It helps automate the film look process listed in the tutorial written by DSE. Jamison Olivieri February 22nd, 2004, 05:22 PM I think i get it can you elaborate on that a bit more. Edward Troxel February 22nd, 2004, 09:45 PM Have you read DSE's tutorial? Jamison Olivieri February 22nd, 2004, 11:07 PM No i havent Edward Troxel February 23rd, 2004, 08:17 AM Here is the Film Look Tutorial (http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/tutorials/filmlook.htm) written by Douglas Spotted Eagle. Josh Bass April 6th, 2004, 07:32 PM I was wanting to play with this, and tried to download it. After it downloaded, it wanted to install something or other, and when I said "yes," it told me that I didn't have Vegas installed! What do I do? Edward Troxel April 6th, 2004, 08:10 PM What version of Vegas are you running? Have you installed the .NET Framework? Josh Bass April 7th, 2004, 01:20 AM Vegas 4. . . I haven't installed the framework, unless it's part of that download. Where do I get it? Rob Lohman April 7th, 2004, 01:37 AM Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-8157-034d1e7cf3a3&displaylang=en) (23 MB) Edward Troxel April 7th, 2004, 08:12 AM After you install the .NET Framework, scripts should run fine. You access script by going to Tools - Scripting - Run Script. BTW, some scripts require newer versions of Vegas. (for example, Excalibur requires 4.0c and Tsunami requires 4.0d) If you haven't updated, you may also need to do that. Josh Bass April 7th, 2004, 11:55 AM Alright. Thanks. Ryan Gohlinghorst April 9th, 2004, 12:48 PM Where would one find that script and how much does it cost? Edward Troxel April 9th, 2004, 01:38 PM http://www.jetdv.com/scripts/RC3_VegasFilmLooks.exe Peter Jefferson April 10th, 2004, 02:39 AM Magic Bullet is coming to Vegas :) http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/magicbullet.html Ryan Gohlinghorst April 10th, 2004, 01:46 PM Great, thanks Edward! Brian Mitchell Warshawsky April 25th, 2004, 10:11 PM Will the Filmlook plugin work with Vegas 5.0, and if so, will it still be necessary with the Magic Bullet Movie Looks, or are these two products distinctly different? If filmlook is not compatible with Vegas 5.0, will a revision be forthcoming? Thanks, Brian Edward Troxel April 26th, 2004, 05:27 AM It will work with Vegas 5 IF you make one small modification. In Windows Explorer, right-click the filmlook.js file and choose Edit. Towards the top, look for "SonicFoundry.Vegas" and change that to read "Sony.Vegas". After that change it will work in Vegas 5 (but NOT Vegas 4). Magic Bullet is something totally different. Todd Metzger April 26th, 2004, 09:51 AM This may not be proper of me to ask this here, but I tried to install the RC3 filmlook plugin on a fresh install of XP with VV5 only installed (no VV4). I get a small warning dialog box with "Test!" in it. I hit ok and it goes to the finish screen of the RC3 filmlook installer. It tells me that it was not installed, aborted early or something like that. Any ideas? Edward Troxel April 26th, 2004, 02:18 PM I saw that once during testing and Dave told me what caused it but I don't remember now. May have to do with the fact that it's looking for the Vegas 4 install location for installing the "looks" and can't find it since you're on Vegas 5 now. Todd Metzger April 26th, 2004, 08:30 PM Thanks Edward! I had a feeling that it was due to VV4 not being installed. Brian Mitchell Warshawsky April 27th, 2004, 02:16 AM Edward, Any plans to put together a Filmlook troubleshooting guide, or checklist for potential settings mistakes to avoid? I think I need a "Filmlook for Dummies" book to make this work properly. Some of my rendered files either playback wildly erratic, like player cannot handle the 24P, or the widescreen appears compressed, and some files output to a black screen completely. I am hoping there is an easy fix. Any thoughts? Brian Edward Troxel April 27th, 2004, 07:51 AM The script is totally based on Spot's film look tutoral. It's available at the Sundance site. Brian Mitchell Warshawsky April 27th, 2004, 08:00 AM Edward, Thanks, I have Spot's excellent article, but I must have my settings set incorrectly somewhere in the pipeline. I'll review the article again. Brian |
