View Full Version : Doa Gs100k??
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 01:14 AM Hi, I just received my gs100k today, and fully charged the battery. I attached it, turned the switch to the on-position and everything was good. Played with the zoom for a couple minutes and then turned it off. A few minutes later tried to turn it on again and nothing happens. I've tried taking the battery off and putting it back on, using the ac adapter as the power source and nothing. Is there anything that I may be missing here, possibly? If someone can help me out, I would really appreciate it. I haven't even had this thing in my posession for 10hrs. I am at a total loss here.
Frank Granovski March 4th, 2004, 01:18 AM Charge up your battery fully, not the "fast charge," and try it again. If it doesn't work, your battery is probably a "dud."
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 01:20 AM what do you mean by "fast charge"
Frank Granovski March 4th, 2004, 01:23 AM My MX300's charging unit has 2 little lights. One light indicates it's been quick-charged, which means it's not full charged. I presume the GS100's charging unit is similar.
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 01:24 AM well the green charging light went out.. it took about 4hrs i think.. i imagine thats a full charge.. but like i said, it doesnt seem to work even when connected to the ac adapter
Frank Granovski March 4th, 2004, 01:28 AM So, with bi-passing the battery, und using the adaptor, there's no power in the cam? Have you attached it properly?
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 01:30 AM Ya, it only fits one way..the contacts line-up. Man, this is depressing.
Frank Granovski March 4th, 2004, 01:34 AM It looks like you may have to dish out insured shipping 2 ways, for a return and for a new one. Sorry to hear that.
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 01:35 AM It seems so :(
Thanks for the help anyway, Frank.
Allan Rejoso March 4th, 2004, 02:56 AM Try resetting the cam one time and see what happens.
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 02:58 AM Allan, already tried that as well. No result.
Allan Rejoso March 4th, 2004, 03:14 AM With the batt connected and without turning on the power switch, can the tape loading mechanism open?
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 03:19 AM no, i've tried that as well. In fact, the whole unit seems dead. Even the power led doesnt work.
As I said before. The first time I powered it on, it worked fine. I turned it off a couple of minutes later, and I haven't been able to turn it back on since.
Allan Rejoso March 4th, 2004, 03:21 AM Sorry to hear that. You'd better send back the cam without further delay because your source might find great difficulty getting you a replacement unit, especially if it's a black mamba.
Good luck.
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 04:15 AM Yeah, I already emailed pricejapan about doing that. I seem to have the worst luck with this type of transaction.
Tom Kouros March 4th, 2004, 05:29 PM Does anyone by any chance know what the average turn around time is for panasonic repairs in Japan? It seems as though the unit will have to be repaired instead of replaced.
Allan Rejoso March 4th, 2004, 05:54 PM Normally, it would take 5-10 working days.
Lincoln Norris March 7th, 2004, 10:43 PM I sent my GS100 K...dropped it of to the repairer personally and picked it up too! here in tokyo (Akihabara), to fox condensation problems.....they called me 5 days later to say it was ready...not to bad..
Good luck!
