Hi there , I finally decided to dip into purchasing a pro video camera, and I got the V1U and the steadicam merlin together, However I am having major problems setting up the Steadicam with the camcorder. If I follow all the settings from the cookbook, the entire thing is TOO top heavy...if i add extra weights, it is too bottom heavy and becomes liek a pendulum. I have been tryin at this for about 6 hours now, and im no where close to getting this. Could you guys recommend me some recipes, or give me some tips in order to setting this up?

thanks in advance!

hey this tutorial def helpt me!, i have one questoin tho, i often trim the meralin with the mic and hand strap on, but after a while of momvemnt i find the camera is unbalanced again, is this because the handstrap has moved and therefore throwin off the balance?

I sold my Glidecam because I never could get to work for me, even with a shoulder harness, but I did find out anything would effect the balance from one time to the next, these things take ALOT of practice.

You know I have been following most of the threads regarding steady cam options, as I am thinking in investing one for the future, but I mostly hear people having problems learning these things as well as having problem holding them for long period of times. I have got so far a sbiderbrace for shoulder mount (for the Z5 and FX7) that works for me, so maybe I will stick with this so far.
