I reccord musicals, and need to pick off the body mics from the sound board. Every soundboard I encounter is usually too low a signal. Also, I can't change the audio to fit the rise and fall of the show volume. I cannot see what signal is going into my camera. So I need an amplifier, with slide adjustment, and a VU meter to see what kind of signal I am recording. What is out there for us Video people.

You need a mixer. Battery-powered mixers tend to be expensive. Wall-powered mixers are less so. Both will work OK but if you need a lot of separate channels, the battery-powered price will be really high.

Pick one with VU meters if you are feeding an analog recorder and LED/LCD peak-reading meters if you are feeding a digital recorder. Both types would be ideal but hard to find in one unit.

I figured I needed this, but don't know where to look. What manufacturer. I would do digital, back channel on xl1s or just use my gl-1 in the control room.

If you have any vendor in mind, let me know,
Thanx

YES!

I use it . It is perfect and does everything you want.
Look at the specs and see why it is so good!

I find it on the site for $49.00. Am I missing something. Did you pay this little? Or do you need to buy the knobs seperate or something like that? I'm going to go for it, can't loose.
Thanx for your feedback.

It is not a great mixer. You won't find many pro sound guys using one. But that aside, it may be just what you want.

The next step up is around $100 or so, then up to about $250 and then up to the stratosphere.

It has a wide frequencyresponse, little distortion, low noise, everything I demand.

I would not know why I should spent more. yes it is very cheap and the quality is great.

I love it.

Tell me what is misssing!

Longivety in heavy use. Noise floor and other bits.

You gotta ask a sound pro if you want all the details.

I found a review of the Behringer Behringer Eurorack UB802 mixer (http://www.songstuff.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=gear_brd;action=display;num=1075299085)
