hello all...

I have a client that wants to shoot on a Panasonic HVX-200 P2 camera...and the questions is:

Will the video download to Sony Vegas (I think he has ver8) via firewire from the camera and the P2 cards? will, he need to convert the video clips and will Vegas
see the clips....I am a cameraman, not a editor, so this is all new to me.

thanks

No. By itself, Vegas has no support for DVCPRO-HD or P2 formats. You'd have to use the Raylight plug-in from DVFilm - Digital to Film Transfers, Tape to Film Tranfers (http://www.dvfilm.com) in order to use any P2 footage with Sony Vegas.

He might want to consider using Glass Valley's EDIUS - which offers direct access to P2 media and files.

TingSern - you made me chuckle when I read your post above. Is that a subtle validation of the American view that Far Easterners can't pronounce "R"s correctly ? It is, of course, Grass Valley Edius, not Glass Valley. Have a great day, Mark

A lot of people pronounce "glass" and "grass" about the same ... it is only in the context of the word usage that we differentiate between the two - agree?

Anyway, that mistake was unintentional ...

But, glad you got a laugh too.
