Does the Tascam HDP2: output word clock on the S/PDIF output when is sync locked to either its internal reference clock or an external source such as, oh I don’t know, maybe video or time code? If so then it could serve as a work clock reference to lock a multi track A to D rig to keep the audio in sync with the video.

That would mean that units from say PreSonus could deliver a computer rig with 32 or even more tracks that would stay in sync with the video without having to spring for something like the Antelope Audio OCX-V!

What a concept!

Hi Grayson,

Yes, this does appear to work. I sent video out from my XH-A1 to the HDP2 and told the HDP2 to sync its clock to Video. I then ran the HDP2 SPDIF out to the SPDIF in on my MOTU 896MkIII and told the MOTU to use SPDIF as its clock source. Everything sync'd up fine, and when I disconnected the RCA Cable carrying SPDIF the MOTU went dead and the 48Khz light started flashing (as one would expect). Reconnected the cable and within a couple of seconds audio was flowing again just fine.
