Need help choosing batteries, charger and base plate for HPX300/301.

What is the difference in these batteries and chargers, I'm really unsure about this and would really appreciate some help.

Creative Video Panasonic Broadcast Dealers > Panasonic AG-HPX301E (AGHPX301E) 3 x 2.2MP 1/3inch MOS P2 camcorder (http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=panasonic_ag-hpx301e)

I Also need help with brackets for these, I don't understand what bracket I will have to buy to mount the Endura batteries (if I buy these) to the HPX300/301 and what distinguishes these two?

Creative Video IDX A-AB2E (AAB2E) Adaptor Bracket to fit Endura Batteries to Anton Bauer Camera Mount (http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=idx_a-ab2e)
Creative Video IDX P-VS2 (PVS-2) ENDURA V-Mount Camera Plate with Pin D-Tap DC out & Digi-View & Syncron (http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=idx_p-vs2)

Finally, I'm looking for a great base plate for HPX300/301 to fit my Manfrotto 501 head. Do you have any suggestions and where can I find such?

The first battey bracket are a simple adapter, which means that digiview from the Endura batteries(if you buy idx batteries with digiview) won't work. The second bracket are ment to replace the Anton Bauer bracket for permanent use.

I've been using the first adapter for some weeks now and it works fine, the deal i got was with IDX batteries with my Hpx500 kit. The IDX kit's are a bit cheaper than Anton Bauer in Norway, but i might swap for Anton Bauer if i need to run larger camera light on the cam as the IDX are max 69w discharge(with some new at 120w though) and AB are 90w.

You need a tripod plate like this, SHAN-TM700.
Creative Video Panasonic Broadcast Dealers > Panasonic SHAN-TM700 (SHANTM700) quick release tripod plate (http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=panasonic_shan-tm700)
Or you can use the Sony VCT-14, i use this with my hpx500.
Creative Video Sony Specialist Dealers > Sony VCT-14 (VCT14) quick release tripod plate for Broadcast Camcorders (http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=sony_vct-14)

But the Manfrotto 501 won't be even close to ideal for the Hpx300, according to pana the camera weighs about 5kg, and with camera plate, mic and maybe some more accessories you soon reach 7-8kg.

Thanks Christian Magnussen for your help:-)

Sorry I ment Manfrotto 503HDV, I'm tired too much work lately.

Do you think the base plates you suggested fit on the 503HDV or do you have any other ideas on a proposal?

I have the 301 and the tripod you have and I use the sony VCT-U14 adaptor plate.

I also have an IDX plate fitted in place of the anton bauer and it allows me to use v-lok batteries and also has a d-tap for my light.

I may have a spare second hand tripod plate if you are interested.

I have the VCT-U14 plate and it is UNIVERSAL I dont know what the difference is to the VCT-14 but the U14 fits the 301 camera.

I have this fitted to the back of the camera: Creative Video IDX P-VS2 (PVS-2) ENDURA V-Mount Camera Plate with Pin D-Tap DC out & Digi-View & Syncron (http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=idx_p-vs2)

It allows V-lok batteries and also had a d-tap for the video light, it also has syncron which turns the light on and off automatically when in record.

Have you looked at Prestons for prices on the 301? it is where I got mine and it was very good on price:H Preston - H Preston Media - Worcester & London (http://www.videokit.co.uk/)

Do you know what the difference is between Sony VCT-14 and Sony VCT-U14 Tripod quick release plate?

The VCT-U14 is made mostly out of plastic. The camera isn't locked completely at the back and can move. With other words this plate s*cks!

The VCT-14 costs a little bit more then the U-version and is made completely out of steel. When you put your camera on this plate it doesn't wobble at the back-end. It's this plate you should get.

VCT-U14 is coming with most of Sony's industrial series camcorders (DVCAM, HDV, XDCAM HD) and the VCT-14 is for the broadcast range, where you have to order the plate seperately (Betacam SX, MPEG-IMX, Digital Betacam, XDCAM HD422, HDCAM).

Is Prestons as reliable as Creative Video?

I prefer now Prestons to Creative video where I used to get my kit, they are good and friendly and you get to talk to John Preston himself.

They do great deals too and I have now bought two camera systems from them with no problems.
