I'm not sure I understand your questions about the male mini. Is it the only connector for the power or are there separate leads also? One thing I would be careful of is I believe AB batteries put out 14.4 V that's more than the 12 V the LCD wants. Unless you got some sort of mount that has a voltage regulator built in.

If the plug is the only power input I would get a multimeter and see which contact connects with which wire. I would guess that the center pin is positive but you never know.

John,
thanks for your response I thought thats what that plug was that I was holding
the male mini I guess im wrong as far as the regulator I think thats what the box in the background is. the maunal is a joke so I dont know. It has a red wire labeled 12v and a black labed ground. Is it possiable to connect this to a AB connector?

I'm not sure but I doubt that the box inline for the monitor is a regulator since they normally rely on the power source for the voltage. I would hesitate to just hook up the battery to it. To be safe you could get a regulator from radio shack

+12V Fixed-Voltage Regulator 7812 - RadioShack.com (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062600&tab=summary)

Put it inline and you should be good to go.
