Hi guys,
I was curious about the high ISO performance everybody is raving about on the 5Dmk2 went out and shot something at ISO 3200!!
unbelievable, this camera, love it!

Amazing. I must have walked by that bar dozens of times without noticing it. You've really captured a nice vignette of this holdout from the old days of the East Village! The high ISO is really letting us peer into the darkness here.

The next time I'm heading to dba, I'll have to take a northern detour and check out Lucy's. :)

The cam is great and you got Lucy to laugh and that was great too:) The cam really is amazing. Did it drop a few frames on you? I thought I saw it do the trademark stutter on the tail end of a few clips. I am just learning to live with it since the image is just so rich and sharp.

Now with the manual control I'm shooting with it all the time.

thanks Mike. I am not sure, too new, I noticed that too, maybe it was my panning or I jerked the camera, but I will watch it in the future to find out what is causing it

It's hard to tell from your compressed web version, but did you notice a lot of noise in the blacks shooting that high of an ISO? What about banding in the gradation and red areas?

I try to shoot at a maximum of ISO 800. Anything higher than that has too much noise in the blacks.

I used to shoot film. noise does not bother me. yeah, of course, there is an increase in noise and very mild banding but its not distracting. keep in mind that there was very little light and to shoot this with tri-x and push processing it to the max would be a challenge

I used to notice annoying rolling band going from the bottom to the top at high ISOs.. seems to happen in all kinds of artificial/natural lighting scenarios... Did you notice this too?

No, but I am really not looking for it either. there is def some quality loss at high iso, but it does not bother me. I can record in situations impossible in the past.

I agree, it's a definitely break neck capability for video.. I don't mind grain/noise at high ISO, in fact I might even like it sometimes.. However moving bands is not a pattern that can be naturally merged into the image viscerally, it will always be a distraction..
