Just got a PD-170 as second camera for weddings.
My seinheiser wireless and shotgun mic are both made to plug into vx2000 audio input, so they won't plug into the xlr inputs on the 170.
i suppose i need an adapter.
suggestions?
ty in advance

All you should need is a new cable for the receiver to plug into the camera. XLR instead of mini pin. Since B&H is closed for the Jewish holidays try Market Tec or OneCall. They should have the cable you need.

The sennheiser should have come with an XLR cable as well as the mini-jack cable. Otherwise, they have them for sale.
The shotgun can be rewired for a XLR plug if you wish. I think an adapter would just mean trouble for the connector and cable. Do you have the sennheiser '300' shotgun?

you need a mini 1/8 female to XLR.

If you use an adapter rather than rewire the cable what you will have very shortly is a broken cable. Unless you can get a right-angle XLR connector with an adaptor.
The cable-end of the XLR connectors stick out quite a ways from the camera handle and are subject to a fair amount of abuse.

Which shotgun and wireless are you talking about?
If the wireless is the evolution 100, then just cut the 3.5mm mini off and solder on a male XLR. It's a mini mono plug if memory serves me. I put an XLR on the day i bought my wireless. It's easier to adapt from XLR to mini if you ever have to use it on the VX2K again, that way you don't have this growth hanging off the side of your PD170.
If the shotgun is a MKE300, I'd use the mic that came with the camera and save for a new one.
