I haven't been on DVi for a while, but I come back to see a number of new GlideCam users.

Has anyone modified their sleds in any way? One gripe I have is the lower end, where the circular weights and monitor go. It often bangs into my thigh and gets in the way. I'd like to hack it off and make something with a slimmer profile (like how the steadicam is angled).

I'd also like to put the wires down the center shaft.

ps - for those looking for C-stands, I built my own for about $15 out of wood. It's heavy and stable. It's only used at home however, onc eI'm good enough to get out and about onset I'll invest in a portable solution.

You know it's funny how you mentioned about modifying your sled base. I'm working on another book that show different modifications one can do with low budget systems, like the Glidecam series.
