I built this from some aluminum and steel bar stock I got from Lowes and a Bogen tripod thumb screw i found at my local camera shop. Cost about $20 total, 2 hours to build and it very strong and lightweight. All I need to do now is find some neoprene to pad it with, I was thinking an old mouse pad would do the trick!
the parts list if anyone wants to know:
1-1/2" x 1/8" aluminum bar stock
1/2" x 1/8" steel bar stock
(3) 6-32 x 1/2" pan head screws
(3) 6-32 t-nuts found in those little speciality hardware drawers at Lowes
(3) rubber washers for the t-nuts
(1) Bogen 1/4" thumb screw (which came off a little adapter plate that cost $9)
(4) rubber non-skid feet
thats it... and some time bending the metal which I did with my hands and a pair of pliers. Just be careful with the measurements, I just kept tweaking the angles till they fit well.
