So the new MX5000's got the 1/6" CCDs and the new TRV950's got the 1/5" CCDS (or there abouts). One's got a Leica lens, the other one's got a Zeiss, I think, or something almost as good. Who knows. Both cams are small, plastic and sexy; But which one's better? Who knows. The MX shoots progressive, the TRV don't! The TRV does the full shutter speed thing, the MX don't! But I ask myself, where's the lux?

the panny being so much cheaper makes it more attractive imho... For the price of the 950 you might as well go for for the agc80 - its not all that much more..

heh guys lets now forget all that has been said and answer the question of what is the better cam? lets forget price etc, if at the end of the day all you want is quality and it came down to these two cameras which would you choose and why?????

I prefer small because it's unobtrusive and yet can do the job.

I'd choose the MX5 for its frame mode and better 16:9 mode.

Its hard to ignore price with the MX500/DV953 coming in under $1000 versus $1600-/+ for a TRV950. Of course a PDX10 would be a whole other issue!

yeah Leo's Camera said that it was $2500 when i enquired about three months ago.

Convert that to US Dollars, and you'll end up a hair under $2000 US. Yeah, twice as much. But don't blame Leo's. Blame Pana Canada. They set the prices---kind of like Nikon US prices verses Nikon Can prices, etc---although Leo's isn't a Nikon dealer. Thank the good one for our sponsors.

Even further off topic---I went to canondv.com and noticed that they are offering huge cash-backs, $500 for the XL1s, $200 for the Optura Xi, etc. Then I went to the Canadian site (canon.ca), and I couldn't find anything about cash-backs. Tommy, you owned an Optura Xi. Would you say that's an accurate discription of it? Or should that description be reserved for the MX5, GS100 and perhaps the pro version of the TRV950? (the black mamba version) :-))

Still no full GS400 specs so that's why I can't keep my fingers still.
