Hello!

I want to hear an opinion where is the best way to capture my GL2 recordings on a harddrive. I am always doing it inside PremierePro, where I have a problem: it always capture just 10 minutes of my takes. Where can I make an adjustment of that? On the other hand - is it important in which program I make my capturing? PremierePro or Vegas 4.0? Or maybe Nero Vission? Are there any differences betweeen them? I mean, I want to be picture as good as it can be.

Thanx,

Marko

No, it will not make any difference as long as you are using a DV
capture program. DV is fully digital. Capture is actually the WRONG
word for the process because it is basically a controlled file copy
process. So all DV capture programs are the exact same in quality.

The only difference might be the way it stores this information and
whether or not it copies 4 channel audio if that is what you
recorded.

If Premiere only captures 10 minutes then you probably have it
set to do that. Or perhaps you have drop frame detection switched
to on and you are dropping frames in that region. Check your
capture settings.

Another program people seem to be using as a standalone
capture utillity is Scenalyzer (www.scenalyzer.com)

From a software standpoint, it will not make a quality difference what program you use to capture. However, I used to have a very difficult time capturing DV until I switched to ScenalyzerLive (www.scenalyser.com). There is a free download you can try, and it may fix your problem.

Another reason you might be having problems capturing more then 10 minutes is because of the filesystem you are using. Since you said you use PPro, you are using Windows XP. You need to convert the filesystem to NTFS. This will break the 2/4BG limit that FAT partitions have. Look up the Convert comand. This is a non-destructive process, but you can't go back to FAT once you've changed.

Hey guys, does Scenalyzer capture hdv (i.e. m2t or ts mpeg2 transport stream in high def) or regular hd.

It didn't do it. It might now. Check out their site.
