I have been playing around to get rid of that "video" look.
Pls have a look at my "playback" videoclip.
Footage was shot with a Sony dcr-pc8e pal.

- combining green screen footage

- lighting experiments

- playback synchronization etc...

- Post editing with Adobe Premiere

You can see the Quicktime video here:

All constructive feedback and/or comments are welcome !

Thanks

Marco

Hey that wasnt bad at all.

I liked the "green" light the most. It had a very filmic-feel to it. Actually a little like some scenes in Fight Club.
Also the green-screen effects worked well.
My only complaint, which is minor, is that we could have seen the actors face from more exciting angles. They intended to get a little boring. But ofcourse this was also only a test.

Good Job and good luck in your future projects.

Excellent result! I have a single chip camcorder and very often think about buying a 3ccd one. You proved that with good light and clr correction, single chip owners donīt have to feel so... "depressed".

Could you give more specific details about the lighting and the post?

playback synchronization was a bit off at times.. (or maybe it was the actor not knowing the lyrics.. ;-)
It also became a bit repetitive.. you need more shots.
Framing.. did you letterbox in post? It was a bit iritating that you couldn't see the eyes many times.

But what matters most is how it looked! I think it looked very good! Good lightning/ color correction work!

Looked pretty cool. Some of your lighting looked great.

Whatever else it did, it make me buy the song from the iTunes store. :)

thanks for yr replies and the useful tips! A new "improved" version of this "videoclip" will be ready soon:

with:

- new framing in order to get better close-ups
- addition of a few new shots to avoid repetitiveness

Very good overall. I liked the "film" look.

One thing that I thought would make it a little better, was varying the distance of the shots. Everything was so close to the talent that I started feeling claustrophobic. Doing a few distant shots here and there would make it a little easier to watch. Keep up the good work!

Hi Marco,

Nice work with a single CCD camera. How did you set up the greenscreen? What lighting did you use?
