I make surf films and I just bought the 100A and a doubler and I cant get the distance I need to shoot at. If anyone knows of any Triplers out there that will work with the DVX and wont get too soft please let me know. Also if anyone knows any other ways of getting more reach please let me know. thanks a lot.

Dana,

As of yet no such high quality 2x or 3x exists. Century optics has I believe a 1.6x for the DVX100 (about $850 US) but I don't think this will do the job for you. The DVX100 is a great cam but its 10x lens is just not suitable for specialty stuff you do nor wildlife video. I consider this the one and probably only drawback to an otherwise great cam.

Regards,

Mark

Canon XL1 with the EF EOS adapter (and EOS lenses) will do the trick. The lack of interchangeable lenses is about the only weak point of the DVX100 series. If all you do is surfing videos, then you might want to see about a return. Otherwise, I would check into renting an XL1 and EOS lenses when I need to shoot surfing videos.

Get a water housing for that thing and get closer to the action- that's my plan anyway
or just shoot shore breaks

I just recently finished a surf film called "way of life". It is already distributed internationally and I know its already in Oahu and Maui so im guessing its where you are also.
