Hi!

I'll be leaving for Romania for the entire summer with my new DVX100AE (the PAL version). Here in NYC I am checking this forum constantly, but I know in Romania I won't be surfing the Net often for almost three months.

I am looking to take a book or some kind of article about the DVX100A. Is there anything like this out there? I don't mean the Panasonic brochures or publicity kits, but a real hands-on thing, explaining all the menues etc. How is Marcus van Bavel's book? I hear it has a chaper on this particular camera. Anyone has read that chapter? Comments?

I also don't mean books about lighting or digital video in general. I am specifically interested in something about the DVX.

Thanks!
Bogdan

Here's one by Steve Mullen that has good word-of-mouth. I haven't read it, so I'm not giving it a personal recommendation, but others have found it helpful.

I have Steve Mullen's DVX manifesto, and it is great. Very detailed, with pretty much anything you need to know about the camera. It's the perfect compliment to the DVX user manual.

I highly recommend it!

EDIT: I also got Marcus Van Bavel's book, but mine was printed before the DVX was ready, so I don't know about DVX specific info. It is, however, a very good book, particularly if you plan on transfering from DV to film. Loads of great info there.

I bought Steve's .pdf a week before I bought my DVX. For me, it might come in handy after I've used the camera a few weeks/month. IMO, it's not a good beginners manual....I'm still looking for one.
