I'm curious how members make labels for their miniDV tapes and cases, hoping to find a nice Word or Excel template (saving me from having to pay for an actual labeling software package). I searched the forums but wasn't able to find anything.

Thanks for the input!

Here is a template I have made up for printing my own cue sheets that sit inside the case;

DV_Tape_Cue_Sheet (http://www.myisp.net.au/~jkl/DV_Stuff/DV_Tape_Cue_Sheet.zip)

It's a 211KB zip file that contains three files.

1, Template Word Document (Word 97 was used to create it and an "Arial Narrow" font was used)
2, Template Photoshop File for your logo
3, Flat Tif File that you import into the word doc (Photoshop files cannot be imported)

As for labels for the actual tapes I use a Brother (model: PT-65) labeller with 9mm tapes as opposed to 12mm... it works perfect!

Cheers,
Jack

Kevin,

Not sure about labels for the tapes themselves but I've found that a 3 1/2 in diskette label (avery 2186) fits on the face of a Mini DV case really well. I print up a bunch with logos and keep them handy so when I shoot something for a station, I can write on the open space whats on the tape. The label has my company name an phone if then need more info.

Kevin, I use this share-ware program that's really quite good. Do a Google search for "rodus videomatica".
