I use Vegas Pro 8 with Cineform NeoScene. Will Procoder accept Cineform encoded files as the input file format? The target output is MPEG-2 files for DVD authoring.

I just transcoded a couple of Cineform files
(Prospect HD 1080 50i; target: MPEG 2)
with Procoder 2: the answer is yes.

OK, well... uhm... you are right... I can't open them either.

Might have to do with the fact that Flash is considered exclusively a delivery format with a very narrow usage in webpages. On a second thought it might have to do with copyright protection - Flash files may have a "flag" that prevents legitimate transcoders from opening them (hence the reason you need some shady software with questionable legality to transcode them).

That would explain why Procoder can't even open Flash files produced with... Procoder. The codec is there, but something prevents it from being used. Just my speculation though...

yes you have to make a difference between codec (the ones that windows understands) et formats that can be opened with few readers.
FLV is not a codec but a container, and it can contains some mpeg4.
quicktime is the same, it is a container. Avi is the same, and you need mediaplayer top en an avi or wmv file.
some codecs are embedded into applications (like flash or quicktime) , other have a public interface like divX, mpeg, DV, HDV.
for example VLC reads almost any files without using any external codec, they are all built in.
in your case, you can find many utilities that con convert flash to avi.
(total converter, super, flash2avi , some flv players etc...)
