I currently have a Sennheiser EW122 Evolution Wireless setup. I am considering selling it to get something more portable.
Would I notice any difference in reception and quality if I sold this and bought a Evolution 112P setup?

I know the 112P isn't a true diversity setup, but how much does that matter in the real world???

With the Sennheiser's, very little in my experience. But it does depend on what you are doing. If you were moving the transmitter or receiver around during a shoot in a forest of steel columns, it might matter.

The only difference of the 122 vs the 112 is the actual Lavalier that is supplied in the package. The 122 includes the ME4 cardiod mic and the 112 includes ME2 omni-directional mic.

If you are happy with the reception etc abd you just want it to sound better, You may want to consider stepping up to a better mic for your exsisting system, like the TRAM, Countryman or even the Sennheiser MKE2.

So I have been happy with the ME4 lav, will the ME2 be better or worse for standard dialogue stuff.

I have the ME2. I don't think it's a bad mic, but I have
A/B tested it against a DPA 4060; the DPA was a
noticable improvement. It gave a more natural,
transparent sound. The ME2 is now the backup.

Sennheiser was stupid to make an ME2 and an MKE2... There's a big difference in those two lavs.

The ME2 is $109 and the MKE2 is $250-$400 depending on the configuration and kit.

The DPA is one of the best lavs you can get... probably better then the MKE2 and the Tram.

If I were to put the "premium" lavs in a top category I'd put the DPA and Countryman at the top with the MKE2, Tram, and AT 899 as sharing second place.

The ME2 is more in the category of standard lavs that come with wireless sets. Even the stock Lectro lav uses a Tram capsule...

Sorry to be anal-retentive about this, but I've seen the ME2 and MKE2 confused in the past...
