Anyone use the Sony RM-VD1 yet? It looks like a simple and affordable zoom control, but that's all it does.

Norm Couture June 25th, 2004, 07:11 AM I have the VCTD580 tripod with built-in LANC remote control. It has the same controls (variable zoom, REC Start/Stop, Photo) with Camera ON/OFF, but they're built in the handle of a Velbon tripod. The friction head is cheap, but for $129CDN, it's hard to find any better. The RM-VD1 comes with a clamp that doesn't seem to be very solid... Jeff Price June 25th, 2004, 10:06 AM Yes, I love it. I've posted comments over on the GL1 forum. Dave Perry July 2nd, 2004, 05:29 AM Thanks for your review Jeff. I think I'll pick one up and try it out. Jeff Price July 2nd, 2004, 09:58 AM I've seen there is another cheap LANC out there that include focus. I can'tremeber who makes it though and my magazines are at home. It may be a Markertek product. Dave Perry July 2nd, 2004, 03:01 PM Jeff, Do you remember if it's under $100? EDIT: I found it. It sells for $38.99. Jeff Price July 2nd, 2004, 05:08 PM That sounds about right. I'm tempted to get it even though I have the Sony (and like it). Even if I spend another $40 I've still spent a lot less than most of the other LANCs cost. |
