Hope I am not repeating the same thing someone already posted. but I found this site with some pictures of the camera..

Noticing a few things:

-2 new icons on the power dial. What are they?
-No button to take the overlays off the finder, leaving just the image as previously with the XL-1s.
-Please tell me the shoulder pad is removeable?

Perhaps you mean the Spotlight and Backlight exposure program selections? That's what they appear to be if I'm looking at the same icons. The Spotlight program has been on the XL1 since I can recall. But the Backlight program (if that's what it is) is new to the camera.

Yes Ken, but there is an another added icon above where the VCR setting is on the XL-1s as well.

Ah, yes. It appears to be a phrase. I can't quite make it out...I think it says..."Sell DVX".

No, no, that's not it.

It says...."Ext. Cont.". You can get a better look at it on one of Chris' shots (http://www.dvinfo.net/canonxl2/images/images06.php).

it designates "External Control" mode. <shrug>

Ah, yes I hadn't gotten to that section of the watchdog site yet. Very nice shots.

Holly, I see 4 screws in the bottom of the shoulder pad. I'd bet it would come off if you removed them. This seems standard with camcorders that have such pads. If I used the XL2, I'd have to remove this pad, to attach my 2-foot long shoulder mount apparatus, that has its own pad, front grab-arm and other appendages.

Yes, there is a dedicated EVF display on / off button... see my pics at http://www.dvinfo.net/canonxl2/images/images06.php, third image down.

Steve: there are actually five (one in the middle). It is my
understanding that this is used with the new TA-100 tripod
adapter to mount the camera much more securely (a welcome
addition I must say)!

From the watchdog:A new tripod mounting plate adapter, the TA-100, attaches securely to the bottom of the XL2 via four screws and offers a quick-release camera mount.
