Looks like we definitely have confirmation that the N.A. NTSC GS400 lacks both a fluorescent WB setting and the ability to create MPEG4 clips.

Interesting that the GS400 can transfer video via USB 2.0 or Firewire.

The silver body just doesn't do it for me..

Now where is that person claiming they've seen worse stills from a digital camera? :)

Does the PAL verson also lack the fluorescent WB setting and the ability to create MPEG4 clips? Or did PALsville get lucky?

PS: I agree about the silver. Black would look much better.

Has anyone looked at the gs400 "home page" link in the dvspot review? Shows the gs400 as a cam with 10x zoom, 2.5" lcd and mpeg4 to sd card capability. Any chance of Panasonic figuring out what the N.A. model's specs really are?

When it comes to the wide screen procinema mode, both of them have diddly-squat to offer. Which is why I'm looking here !!

I've just played with GS400 PAL yesterday for couple of hours and unfortunatly there is no fluorescent WB setting though, anyway doing WB is quite irritating (click) but does it OK. Haven't tried or explored mpeg capability. Cine modes are interesting, but not impressive at all.
What I liked: picture quality, big LCD screen, nice optics
What I didn't liked: low light picture, confusing controls, WB click.
Anyway this is very interesting cam, but will stay with my XM2 for a while...
