I need to make animated titles with transparency effects. While I *could* do this frame-by-frame in Photoshop, I'd rather do it with something like Flash, an inexpensive keyframe/tweener

I recall using a shareware app from years ago that could do this, but have since lost track of it.

Basically, a poor-man's After Effects is what I need.

Any recc.'s?

There's Swish (http://www.swishzone.com/) which is meant to be a free/cheap alternative to Flash. That might be worth looking into. I haven't used it so I can't vouch for it, however.

I've been looking at some lately myself, and there are a few options

BluffTitler
Herogplyh
Inscriber (TitleMotion)
Ulead Cool 3d

They all have wacky interfaces which feel very unintuitive to me, strange timelines and cluttered. Unlead's one is about the best that I liked, but it's slow as a mother. You almost have to render everything out before you can see it in any sort of realtime. Shame, or I would have bought it.
