...I condense it into one short peice. I didn't add any fancy effects or artistic color correction- just clean fast paced editing fun. Enjoy....

I saw it and thought it was great. That is exactly what I did for my last wedding gig for all of the fast party dancing. Mine wasn't cut near as quickly as yours, so you've inspired me!

Thank you Bob- yeah I've been trying to experiment with different editing techniques. This particular song felt like it needed fast cuts. In all I've been trying to tighten up my pacing....I feel pacing is of great importance in videography. During a standard montage sequence or highlight vignette (not a dance piece) my shots rarely run over 3-4 seconds in length each. Having pacing like this doesn't mean it has to be quick...they are usually strung together with slow dissolves... but it's important to keep stimulating your viewer with new images. I don't like holding shots longer than they have to be. A rookie mistake I always used to make....I look at my old works and cringe when I see how long I used to hold my shots.

If someone has some webspace to spare maybe they can upload it for me. I'm working with a measily 20mgs from Comcast and I don't have any more until I actually get my site up and running.

My regular day job... I own a small web hosting firm.

I just registered a new domain, and will be setting up a site for people just like you. I will donate server space and bandwidth to anyone wishing to showcase their works. Initially, both space and bandwidth will be limited and first come first served, prefered DVinfo.net members, until I can establish the demands. I am only opening the doors with 2GB of transfer, so I cannot guarantee how long your work can be available to stream, but I will look to grow in the near future.

All servers are unix based, and do not support Windows FTP very well, so you will need an FTP client such as CuteFTP or SmartFTP to be able to upload your works, until I can work out the kinks and perhaps design a web based upload option.

Email me to request access to the server.

Doh! no...I'm so sorry...I've been so busy. I have like 4-5 clips I can upload. Shoot me another email to remind me. I'm off to the GPVA meeting now (Greater Philadelphia Videographer's Association). Be back late tonight, but wont be able to upload anything to as early as tomorrow evening.

Thanks Glen!
FANTASTIC editing!

Can you give us a ballpark figure as to how much time it too you to cut that?

Thanks Dylan- now keeping in mind I'm the world's slowest editor...it took me around 5 hours from start to finish. Including the time it took to sort through about an hours worth of random short clips taken throughout the entire night.

Some may complain that the bride might want more coverage of the dancing- however all my clients have seen my previous works and the style in which I tackle the non-formals throughout the night. Besides unedited dance footage is available at an extra cost.

Great editing! Being that I am more of a novice at wedding video, I understand what you are saying about how long the cuts are. Im going to try to shorten my times down for my next event in a few weeks.

Thanks for the tips.

Steve

Glen -

Nice work. I was impressed that you edited to the beat of the music. This may seem natural to many of us, however, I've seen a lot of editing where the music bed was added last - almost as an afterthought. So I commend you for taking the time to edit to the beat. Not only does it make the whole spot shorter (which the bride and groom will appreciate the 45th time they've seen the wedding video) but it makes the spot much more watchable.

good job
